Description
The obverse features a faithful reproduction of Liberty wearing a laurel wreath and Phrygian cap, designed by Charles E. Barber. Encircling the portrait are the inscriptions “United States of America” and the motto “E Pluribus Unum,” while the date “1894” appears below. The outer ring displays the issuing country and specifications: “Niue Island,” “Five Dollars,” “2026,” “2 oz,” and “Ag 999,” together with the official coat of arms of Niue.
The reverse showcases the denomination “ONE DIME” enclosed within an agricultural wreath composed of corn, wheat, maple, and oak leaves, faithfully reproducing the classic Barber Dime design. Surrounding the central motif is the inscription “United States of America.” Around the rim, the modern inscription “Greatest United States Coins” identifies this issue as part of the prestigious series, while a small U.S. flag at the bottom pays tribute to the rich heritage of American coinage.
